  • Chicken breast – Although chicken thighs can be used, I prefer chicken breast cut into bite-sized pieces for this recipe.
  • Penne pasta – I opted for mini penne pasta because they are thinner than regular penne. Rigatoni or fusilli would work well too.
  • Sundried tomatoes – the ones that come in oil.
  • Chicken stock – I used a chicken bouillon cube dissolved in water, but you can use your preferred brand of chicken stock.
  • Heavy cream – substitute with coconut milk for dairy free version.
  • Spices and aromatics – onion, garlic, paprika, red chili flakes, salt and pepper.
  • Garnishes – basil leaves, grated parmesan cheese
  • Olive oil and butter

How to Make Marry Me Chicken Pasta

STEP ONE: Season the chicken cubes with salt, black pepper, paprika and chili flakes.
STEP TWO: Bring a large pot of water to boil. Add pasta and cook according to package instructions. Reserve some pasta water. Drain pasta and set aside.

STEP THREE: Heat oil in a large skillet and cook the chicken until just done.

STEP FOUR: Remove the chicken from the pan and add butter. When the butter is melted add chopped onions and minced garlic. Cook until the raw smell disappears.

STEP FIVE: Add the chopped sundried tomatoes and chicken and cook for an additional minute.

STEP SIX: Pour in chicken stock and heavy cream and season with salt, pepper, paprika, and red pepper flakes.

STEP SEVEN: Bring the sauce to a boil on medium-high heat and let it simmer for a minute or two. The liquid quantity might seem a lot but they do get soaked up by the pasta.

  • 2 Chicken breast cubed around 1 pound
  • 1/2 tsp Salt
  • 1/2 tsp Black pepper
  • 1/2 tsp Paprika
  • 1/2 tsp Red chili flakes

  • 3 Garlic cloves minced
  • 1 cup Chicken broth or 1 bullion cube with 1 cup of water
  • 7 Sundried tomatoes in oil chopped half a 210g bottle
  • 1 cup Heavy cream
  • 3/4 tsp Salt
  • 1/4 tsp Black Pepper
  • 1 tsp Chili flakes
  • 1 tsp Paprika
  • 8 oz Penne pasta
